Dear John Hanger Supporter:
Good News! Advocates of PA’s proven Single Payer/Medicare-for-All legislation have the extraordinary opportunity to win quality, comprehensive, affordable healthcare for all Pennsylvanians, effective January 1, 2017.
As you may recall from the Democratic primary for governor, John Hanger was the earliest and strongest advocate for Single Payer Universal Healthcare – a position consistent with his progressive positions on the other issues, including full legalization of marijuana.
The Patient Protection and Affordable care Act (PPACA), aka “ObamaCare” provides for superior, state-based healthcare solutions – like PA’s Senate Bill 400 – to be implemented the first day of 2017.
Well, Senate Bill 400, the Single Payer Solution, far exceeds the Affordable Care Act in all respects: it eliminates predatory insurance company practices; it saves money for individuals, businesses, and government agencies; it generates thousands of new jobs; it saves billions of dollars through a fair-share tax (3% personal and 10% business payroll) that replaces skyrocketing insurance premiums, co-pays, and deductibles; it restores the patient-provider relationship to medical decision-making; it empowers the state to bulk purchase prescription drugs – and save an estimated 40% –on behalf of our 12.4 million citizens.
And, oh yes, Senate Bill 400, the “Pennsylvania Health Care Plan” provides cradle-to-grave comprehensive health coverage for all Keystone citizens – primary, specialized, and hospital care, prescription drugs, mental health, alternative methods, addiction treatment, vision care, emergency transport, and dental services.
To see the economic study that documents to our case, go here.
We can, must, and will win this legislative battle in Pennsylvania – and inspire the remaining 49 states – to take back our healthcare system, to lift everyone’s economic well-being, and to pave the way for additional pro-democracy reforms.
Remember, our target date for passing Senate Bill 400, the Single Payer Solution, is January 1, 2017. In the scope of major political and policy reform, 30 months is a very short time frame. That’s why it is urgent that we build, galvanize, and organize now for the passage of the Single Payer Solution. The stars are aligning for victory.
