Pennsylvania Governor Tom Corbett has handed the state over to the oil and gas industry. The past three years have seen Corbett prioritize their interests over the people of Pennsylvania time after time.
The 2014 election for Governor is our chance to take Pennsylvania back from the oil and gas industry. But we can only do that if we have a candidate taking the right position on fracking: a statewide moratorium on any new drilling.
I’ve been working with my friends at Food & Water Watch Fund on a new campaign called Pennsylvania Voters Against Fracking. We’ve been putting pressure on all of the Democratic candidates for Governor and Lt. Governor to support a statewide moratorium. We delivered a Pledge to Halt Fracking to all of the candidates. Last week, we held a press conference with Josh Fox, director of the Gasland films, to announce that a candidate for Lt. Governor has taken the pledge. You can read about it here. You can even listen to the press conference here.
We’re asking Pennsylvanians to sign a petition declaring themselves Pennsylvania Voters Against Fracking. We’ll deliver the petition to all of the candidates days before the primary.
We invite you all to become involved in our campaign! If you’d like to join our call on Wednesday, 4/23 at 7 p.m., let me know and I’ll send you the call-in information. You can respond to this email or contact me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org.
You can also follow Pennsylvania Voters Against Fracking on Facebook and Twitter.
Let’s show the candidates how we feel about fracking!
